Shillong: On Friday last, Health Minister of Meghalaya bah Alexander L Hek convened a joint meeting of the GVK Company and Meghalaya EMRI Worker Union. Speaking after the meeting, the minister said with a great relief that 108 will resume its work again. He was pleased with the outcome of the meeting as both the Employer and Employees came to an agreement on some of the top demands. This is also confirmed by the MEMRIWU president, bah Roypar Kharrasswai who said that the demands conceded by the Company includes a 30% increase of pay to the workers.
Regarding the taking over of the Emergency Services and its workers by the government, Kharrasswai said that the status quo will remain till the contract expires and the government assured to work out ways and means towards its implementation.
