Shillong: On the 19th of May 2021 at around 11:30 pm, the members of the Khasi Student’s Union Eastern Border Area Circle got hold of around 20 non-tribals who were about to cross the border which falls under the Shillong Bypass Road which is in Bhoirymbong.
Seeing this incident, the President of the KSU Eastern Border Area, Mr Banjop Maring expresses his concern to see that there are people from out of the State who are coming inside the State freely whereas those people from the State itself find it difficult to even move from one district to the other.
Futhermore, Mr Banjop Maring said that the organization is concerned after seeing that more and more non tribals are coming to the state during this pandemic time and they might be the carriers of the Covid 19 and thus, spread it in the State. He even said that the law is not being equal because often times the tribals were always the one that has to face many circumstances and are always being ignored whereas that never happened to the non tribals. For the safety and well being of the State and it’s people, the organization said that it will keep on continuing in checking and steps will be taken to see that no non tribals belonging from out of the State will be allowed inside the state. These non tribals held by KSU members are Moida Khatun, 25 years old, Alser Ali, 24 years old, Khatiza Khatun, daughter of Alser Ali, Ali Hussain, 23 years old, Abdul Hussain, 18 years old Azad Ali, Sahidul Islam, 18 years old, Hassan Ali 19, years old, Dilal Hussain, 18 years old, Rofikul Islam, 18 years old, Jerul Hoque, 27 years old, Aisha Khatun, Yakup Ali, 19 years old, Ajmud Ali, 19 years old, Md Mojibur Rahman, 40 years old, Ajma Khatun, 40 years old, Hajara Khatun, 25 years old, 18 . Hasima Khatun, 19 years old, Esmina Khatun, 18 years old, Hasmud Ali.
All these non tribals came from Daarang District of the Assam State with the hope of finding some work inside the State.
