Shillong: Prior to its commemoration of the 170th Death anniversary of late Rev. Thomas Jones, Father of Khasi Alphabets APSTA made a contribution in kind to NEIMA children’s Home Pynursla.
This was done on the 12th of this month under the leadership of babu FC Shullai, General secretary APSTA in a brief function chaired by the Vice-president APSTA babu T. War in the presence of the members of APSTA- Pynursla Unit, bah RM shabong and the office-bearers of NEIMA Pynursla.
On the part of NEIMA Pynursla it expressed deep gratitude through its chairman to APSTA for their humanitarian contribution. He also give a report that there are altogether 86 orphanned children under NEIMA 50 girls and 33 boys and another 3 girls are in its After care. The chairman also informs that NEIMA gives Vocational training to the children.
In this function, speeches were also given by Kong L Tiewsoh, Babu FC Shullai, General Secretary APSTA. Shullai said that this humanitarian work has been done by APSTA for twenty seven years and the contribution is given to different institutions, welfare organisations etc. irrespective of religion and that this is usually done annually prior to the commemoration of the death anniversary of Late Thomas Jones the pioneer of primary education among the Khasis.
Spoken in the function was also Bah RM Shabong proprietor of Rupang as the Chief Guest. Shabong lauded APSTA for its noble effort to reach out with helping hands to those in need. He credited their success and strength to their unity as the Association under the leadership of Babu FC Shullai, for such a very long years since 1982.
