
Shillong: Today the EM Incharge Trade Bah Paul Lyngdoh stated clearly that the circular order announced on 4th October, 2019 already laid down implementation rules in trade which includes street hawking.
The EM also warns that anyone doing benami will not be spared. Rules and regulations in this regard is already in place to ensure fair trade activities in accordance to the 1954 bad 1959 Act.
He also pointed out how this Act has not been fully and properly implemented in the past which results to unauthorized trade activities all along public places and streets. This he said, must be stopped.
On the act of seven locals in filing petition against the Council’s order Bah Paul applauded the ruling of the High Court of Meghalaya. “The non-tribal hawking on the streets must respect this order of the Council and the ruling of the Court”, the EM said and “they must comply with legal procedures which includes, applying for trading license”.
