The move gets stronger as the Sonarpyrdi Eco Tourism and Socio Economic Development Society (SETSEDS) joins the fight.
this is confirmed by the press release issued by the Association. Waheh shnong Womsa Talang said, “I along with all the office bearers express our deepest concern over the call for public hearing. We will oppose tooth and nail on the ground that this plan by the Star Cement will adversely impact our six villages that includes, Sonapyrdi, Kuliang, Borsora, Lumtongseng, Sakhri and Shamplong”.
As mentioned by the others who already staged their protests on the issue, this Association as well cites the reason behind the opposition of affecting the environment and all the living organism and medicinal plants in it. besides, the concern over the fate of Lukha river is also the main reason.
The people’s voice will reach the Supreme Court if the government does not pay heed, voiced the leaders.
