Shillong: Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisation wants to remind the Meghalaya government that the Centre mulls that only ILP states in the North East will be exempted from CAB. Those are Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.
Therefore, it puts strong pressure on the government that by all means ILP should be adopted in the state within October itself.
as a watchdog, CoMSO offers its cooperation if needed be in working out the Rules related to ILP. On the other hand, it is also prepared to take any course of action if the government fails to bring in ILP.
Recently CoMSO met many Ministers, party leadership and MLAs of opposition to press their demands for ILP because they are convinced this is the only tool to check influx as well as to oppose the CAB proposed by the Centre.
Amit Shah (Union Home minister ) while in Mizoram ensured that ILP States will be exempted from CAB.
Manipur passed the Manipur people protection Bill 2018, Assam apart from the NRC now it is speeding up through the High level committee to work on the clause 6 of Assam Accord in order to protect the indigenous community of the state. Even in Tripura the indigenous people pushed forward their demands for Twipraland
Thus, CoMSO is gravely concern over the seeming delay of such action in Meghalaya. It argues that if the government is against CAB then it must implement the ILP immediately.
