Jowai: Yesterday the High Court of Meghalaya through Justice W. Diengdoh issued an order preventing the Chairman to manage proceedings of the JHADC Durbar since the case against chairmanship election is still pending with the Court. The Dy. Chairman is authorized to manage the session which begins today the 28th November, 2019.
It must be mentioned that Lakhon Biam MDC was elected chairman. Soon after, he switched from UDP to BJP. So the ruling EC led by NPP stripped him of chairmanship and replaced him with bah Fineliness Bareh MDC. Andrew Shullai, leader of opposition filed a writ petition (WPC No. 258) challenging this replacement. The case is still pending so the Court ordered that the session be managed by the Dy.Chairman Ma Ailad Bhoi MDC from Wahiajer. The chairman can participate as the member only.
