Shillong: Yesterday the Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisation (CoMSO) met the governor of Meghalaya, Tathagatha Roy to apprise and request him to have a look and sign the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security (Amendment) Ordinance, 2019 to become a law.
CoMSO appeals the governor stating that the Ordinance has been passed by the Meghalaya government through the Cabinet as this will be the perfect mechanism to check influx and immigration into Meghalaya. It also stress that the Ordinance is out of a concensus of all stakeholders including NGOs.
CoMSO stress that MRSSA Ordinance, 2019 should require anyone who plans to stay in Meghalaya more than24 hours to furnish all relevant documents of identification.
The desire to have a session with the governor on Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019 is another wish expressed by CoMSO.
