Shillong: The Chief Minister Government of Meghalaya Shri Conrad K. Sangma could not but recounts his regards to the late Archbishop as a friend so dear with his father and the comforter at the demise of his father, Shri Purno A. Sangma. He also praised beloved Jala as an intellectual and adviser. Therefore, on behalf of the state the Chief Minister expressed his deepest condolence on the loss of this precious soul.
Former Chief Minister Bah DD Lapang too sent his condolence and expressed shock over the accident and death of the Archbishop Dominic Jala. He said “the sudden demise of the Archbishop is an irreparable loss to the church, the people and the state as a whole”
Another ex-Chief Minister Shri Mukul Sangma pour his condolence, shock and grief over this great loss. The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), in an emergency meeting expressed shock and sadness and observed a two minutes silence in memory of the departed soul.
Condolence is also sent to the diocese Vonaparte over the loss of Fr Matthew Velankal, in the same accident and sent get well soon message to Fr. Joseph Parrekatt who is now under treatment.
