Shillong: The sudden and unnatural demise of the Archbishop Fr. Dominic Jala in a foreign country almost two weeks ago has stunned all those who knew him particularly from the faith community.

More than his death, of course it is his approachability, intellect, and pastoral nature combined with his concern for the society that has created a vacuum in people’s heart.
Ever since the body arrived last Monday, people thronged in from the ordinary to the dignitary from all walks of life to have their last glimpse and pay last respect to the most loved departed leader.
Today, it is witnessed that all made their way to the Laitumkhrah Cathedral before he was laid to eternal rest.
The bishop was laid to rest today in a place adjacent to the Cathedral as per his wish. Apart from the large crowd and the clergies, the Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, Former CM Dr. Mukul Sangma and Shillong MP Ma Vincent Pala attended the funeral.
Late Archbishop Dominic Jala was born on 12th July, 1951, ordained to priesthood on 19th November, 2019 and died on 10th October, 2019.
