Shillong: Shri Conrad K Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya today evening invited all three District Councils in the state over the Sixth Schedule Amendment, Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act 2016 and Trading License. The CM chaired the meeting which is attended by CEMs of two Councils. GHADC was represented by the EM.
Sangma said that he received reports of unauthorized raids for trading license in the state which is a cause of concern. He therefore, urged the District Councils to issue prohibition order of such acts because Councils alone are the deemed authority to do so.
Over issues pertaining the Sixth Schedule Amendment, the meeting reiterated that Councils and the government are of the same mind.
In relation to the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act 2016 the government made it clear that it will not cause any hurdles for tourism.
Over financial crunch in the Councils, the minister incharge, James K. Sangma said this is not a new issue and also pointed that overstaffing is one of the main reasons.
