Shillong: Few days back the East Jaintia Hills District Superintendent of Police gave a Press Release which announced the drug network busted in the Indo-Bangladesh border involving an alarming number of foreign nationals in collaboration with locals both in the Indian and Bangladesh territories.
But this menace seems to spread in high profile even in East Khasi Hills District involving local men. The Office of the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills District in its Press Release today Memo No. EKH/DCRB/Press-Release/180 dated, Shillong the 20th Sept, 2019 claims that on 17.09. 2019 its Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) and Mawngap PS acting on a tip off about potential drug deal was able to recover an abandoned 298.16 grms of heroin in a bag on the roadside and in a Tea Stall at Pomlum 7th Mile Upper Shillong.
The mystery of abandoned heroin was resolved by Police with the seize of one Local Taxi ML05-G-7902 used to bring consignment of drugs to Pomlum. The nab provides leads to another and another till the network is nibbed in the bud. After nearly 48 hours of the seize the driver Kitborlang Ryntathiang (27 yrs) of Lumparing, Kynjatphutbol was caught. He then led to a middleman Rishan Pyngrope (29 yrs) of Lumparing, Kynjatphutbol who then led to the key supplier Rinku Saikia (25 yrs) alias Roy alias Babu of Nongrim Hills, Shillong. Within 60 hours police were able to connect all the dots and all three accused have been arrested and vehicle used in commitment of crime has been seized.
A case has been registered in Mawngap PS case number 27(09)2019 U/S 21(C) NDPS Act. It is to be noted that two seizures were made, one at Tea stall in which 111 grams of heroin was seized and another by roadside near tea stall in which 187 grms of heroin was seized.
Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Shillong Kong C.A. Lyngwa, IPS, appreciated the Mawngap PS and ANTF for successful investigation which led to busting up of another drug chain network operating in Shillong. Investigation is still on and further linkages of this drug chain are being looked into.
