Shillong: Bah John Kharshiing along with other elders of Hima Mawphlang residing outside the Hima, today they have requested the Bah Pyniaid Sing Syiem, incharge Elaka to postpone the election for Lyngdoh of Hima Mawphlang.
Speaking to the Media Bah John Kharshiing said that their aim is to request the KHADC on the individual capacity who reside outside the Hima to postpone the time for the election of Lyngdoh.
Hima Mawphlang is constituted by 12 clans among these only 5 clans can elect the Lyngdoh. They are, Lyngdoh Mawphlang, Blah, Kharshiing, Kharhunai and Kharsohlia.
Bah John said that the election practice in the past was by head-counting and this practice sometimes creates confusion. As a result a new resolution was taken that the Lyngdoh be elected from among those who reside in the Hima.
The intent of a request to postpone was that even those who reside outside the Hima could take part in the election process.
Bah Pyniaid Sing Syiem Deputy CEM, also in charge Elaka assured them that their request will be considered and the date will be deferred from the scheduled date. The EM in charge also assured that a meeting with the elders of the Hima will be convened to have an understanding.
