
Shillong: Hawking in itself is an inconvenience to general public. Businesses without trading license is even worse and illegal. Non-tribal Hawkers have been hawking illegally for long, without trading license which is against the law of the District Council. Therefore, the current Executive of the KHADC did not choose to pay blind but vowed to end such illegalities.
However, to the dismay of one and all, some Khasi hawkers took to Court to oppose the ban only to be fined by the Court for interfering in the matter which does not concern them. They are fined with rupees 5000 each.

It may be mentioned that the KHADC has notified on the 4th of this month that hawkers by non-tribals is banned with effect from today the 14th October, 2019.
Those who have filed the pettition against the order of the Khasi District Council are kong Julie Warjri from Sunny Hills, kong Theila Marbaniang from Mawlai Mawdatbaki, kong Banisha Jyrwa, from Mawprem, Kong Idaris Kharwanlang from Mawbah, Kong Deneris Thongni from Mawkhar, kong Risuklang Marwein from Shyiap, kong Margrete Khongwir from Bishnupur.
