Government nod to cancel contract, GVK employees to face the brunt 1

Shillong: The government not moved by the employees’ grievances is ready to cancel contract with GVK at the employees’ own risk. This message is sent by Health Minister bah A L Hek to the Meghalaya EMRI Worker Union today. This statement from the Health Minister, yesterday sent the union into a fix.

It must be reminded that one of the MEMRIWU’s demands is that the government cancel contract with the GVK company which ferry to the emergency needs of patients in the state. The Union called off the hunger strike for another tougher protest to force the government into action.
The Union also demands that all the company’s employees be adopted by the government.
To cancel the contract, the minister needs time and urged the employees to go back and join their duty to facilitate the process. However, from the side of the Union, it ois clearly expressed that they can never go back since none of their demands is met by the company.
