Shillong: Meghalaya EMRI Workers Union are on a protest mode since 30th September demanding that the government adopts the 108 service into its departments due to the problems they faced with the GVK EMRI Company in a number of ways.
However, the state government maintains its position that the arrangement will go as usual and there is no contemplation to do otherwise.

The Chief Minister, Conrad K, Sangma said, “the government will go by its previous decision to give chance to private companies to manage the 108 service. It is not that the government cannot undertake but it is always important to be cautious in taking decisions”. He therefore urged both the Company and workers to come into a mutual understanding so that the general public will not suffer long.
