Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh is in favour of stronger trade ties with India. This she expressed in her meeting with the Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma yesterday at her residence in Dhaka.
“Traders from Meghalaya can trade with Bangladesh, especially in SunamganjSylhet.,” says Ihsanul Karim, the Press Secretary of the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister said that Sunamganj is a trade centre with 2,000 acreswhich can house macro trade activities. She also suggested that India can use waterways to ferry trade materials which is cost friendly. In addition, railways closed during the India Pakistan war is now reopened that can make Indo Bangla trade easier.
