Shillong: President of Meghalaya EMRI Workers Union (MEMRIWU) bah Roipar Kharrasswai, said that MEMRIWU has taken a resolution to call off the ongoing hunger strike but a fresh and stronger protest will start on Monday.
Kharrasswai clarifies the intent of moving for a tougher protest is the fact that the peaceful protest they have adopted did not yield positive response. 14 members of the MEMRIWU reached to hospital due to hunger strike Both the GVK Emri and the government remains complacent. Thus, the EMRI employees must not be blamed for moving to a bigger protest.
The MEMRIWU served a week ultimatum to solve the problem. Since the time lapsed last Friday with no response from any side the Union will press on with a bigger protest.
