Nongpoh: Two leaders and members of the JAC claiming to represent Meghalaya-Assam border villages such as Pilangku-A, Pilangku-B, Chibra, Jolsyiem, Maiong, Iongkhuli, Ganebalbari-A, Gambalbari-B, Barapathar, Lamati and Jyrmang said they welcome the BSF to set up its station in the Umtyrnga area for it will bring development works such as roads, hospitals and etc. in the development crunch area like theirs.
Monu Arengh the Chairman and Jehosh M. Sangma, Publicity Secretary, condemned those who oppose the plan saying that they resort to misleading the people by spreading false rumour of losing cultivable lands.
It may be pointed that the BSF’s plan to set up camp at Umtyrnga draws sharp protest from section of people in the area. Those who oppose the plan are represented by leaders such as Bah Bor Khong tyngkut and Bah Marcus Lapasam, who recently convened a general meeting at Umtyrnga who also got the support of their MLA Bah Sosthenes Sohtun,
The JAC who welcomes the move is determined to share their openness with the Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma
