Shillong:After the review meeting which was held on the 28th of May 2021, under the chairmanship of the Honourable Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, the State government has decided to continue the lockdown in East Khasi Hills District upto 5 am of 7th June 2021 with a few relaxations.
The State government has also extended the containment measures througout the entire State which was supposed to end on the 31st of May 2021 will be extended till further orders. The containment measures that are being extended in the entire State includes political, public, social and religious gatherings are not permitted including conferences, meetings of any kind and trainings.
The entry of tourists from outside the State shall not be permitted, all toursts spots within the State shall remain closed, any kind of sports or acitivities are not permitted. Inter-state movement of persons shall be restricted but this restriction will not be applicable to the transit vehicle who has to pass through the State of Meghalaya. Inter-national border trade(export activities)will be allowed but regulations is entrusted to the concerned Deputy Commissioners to issue and also to regualate accordingly.
Furthermore, the government has authorised all DC’s to impose restrictions in the district depending on the local situation and also the SDO(Civil) are being authorised in their respective jurisdiction.
During the lockdown period in East Khasi Hills District, some of the relaxations that are put in place includes:
The DC shall make sure that the availability of essential commodities in all the localities within East Khasi Hills on a need basis.
Home delivery is permitted subject to permission and regulations to be issued by the DC of East Khasi Hills.
Inter-district movement of persons from East Khasi Hills or to other Districts is still restricted.
All Central government offices other than those already notified by the Personnel department shall remain shut.
All State government offices other than those notified by the Personnel department shall remain closed.
State Bank Of India, Main Branch, SBI Laitumkhrah Branch shall function with limited staff for government transaction only.
All other banks are permitted to open on 31st of May 2021 and 1st of June 2021 with limited staff for urgent transaction only but they shall close by 4 pm.
All Post Offices are permitted to open on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June 2021 with limited staff.
E-commerce activities courier services are permitted subject to regulations issued by the DC.
Hardware stores are permitted to open on a need basis with the prior permission of DC.
In-situ construction works for government projects that do not involve the movement of labourers are permitted with due intimation to the DC of East Khasi Hills District.
In-situ construction works of private projects that do not involve the movement of labourers are permitted subject to prior permission and regulation of the DC.
Funeral gatherings will be restricted to 10 persons only with prior permission from DC.
The exemption during the extended lockdown include:
Health services including emergency services and vaccination.
Medicines and pharmaceuticals.
Movement of essential goods.
Persons travelling on essential government duty such as medical team and officials on Covid-19 duty, police, security and Armed forces, Civil Defence, Fire and Emergency services, electricity, water supply, municipal services, public distribution system,IPR, telecommunication services, print and electronic media, farming activities in rural areas including betel-nut, betel-leaf and broomsticks.
MGNREGA activities are also exempted from the lockdown.
