Shillong: Nongwah-Mawtamur has been on the news for quite some time. The crux of the matter is the alleged sale of the Lyngdoh, Bah Shemphang Thabah to the Jirang Syiemship. But the matter does not end there. Today, the Joint Action Commitee (JAC) of the people of Hima Sohiong (Sohiong Syiemship) met the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council(KHADC) bah Teinwell Dkhar to register their protest against the Lyngdoh for this sheer offence committed by him.
Bah Passlang Khani chairman of JAC said, “From this misdeed of the Lyngdoh sohiong by selling to the Hima Jirang it paved way for Assam to illegally annex 40 villages that actually belong to Hima Sohiong, since those villages share the border with Assam those parts of Ranigate, Accoland, Korchup, Nagragate.”
The JAC Sohiong therefore, demands that the deed signed on the 6th of August 2015 which was approved blindly by the ex- EM of KHADC without prior proper scrutiny be scrapped. Further, the JAC also demands that the current Lyngdoh Bashemphang Thabah be removed from the post of U Lyngdoh and order appointment of the new one in his place. It also reiterated the need to get not the Acting but the full fledged Loyngdoh
The misdeed or offence committed by the current Lyngdoh was his sale/handing over of Nongwah Mawtamur which is the tributary of the Hima Sohiong to the Hima Jirang 17 April, 2015.
