Shillong: Chairman Meghalaya State Planning Board bah Lambor Malngiang informs that in the coming month he will conduct a spot inquiry on all the fish ponds under the Aqua Mission schemes.
Speaking to news persons bah Malngiang said, “I will go by myself to spot check on the month of November to find whether and how much progress and benefits the project accrued so far. The government is committed to build 27 thousand fish ponds out of which 19 have already been done.”
On turning cultivatable lands into fisheries the Chairman said it will drastically affect farm produce particularly in fertile RiBhoi District. “ from our side we will have seriously look into this matter and make rules to prevent such lands” he said.
On charge of possible embezzlement bah Malngiang said, “it is my duty to inquire in order to know whether or not such things took place and otherwise. Till now there are eight thousand ponds under construction.”
