Shillong: Citizenship Amendment Bill resurface again to cause stir in the North East. This is indicated in the speech of the Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah few months ago.
The North East Forum for Indigenous People (NEFIP) a conglomeration of 250 NGOs in the region in its first central Executive Council held yesterday at Kohima Nagaland resolved to organize protests all over North Eastern Region to protest against the Centre’s plan to introduce again the CAB in the Parliament.
COMSO which represents Meghalaya to the NEFIP will organize the protest on 3rd October 2019 in Shillong. Other agitation programmes will follow.
Bah Robertjune Kharjahrin the Genl. Secretary said “if the government of India choose to go ahead with the Bill NEFIP will be compelled to take the matter to the United Nations Organisation”.
Another controversial matter is the plan of the Central government to make Hindi a national language and to force people to read, write and speak it. Kharjahrin again said that NEFIP resolved not only to oppose this plan but also instead will demand that UNDPRIP be implemented which is the safeguarding authority of indigenous people.
