One day Villages in Malidor will be Vanish 1

The villages near Malidor are situated at the end of the state and the district of East jaintia Hills, Meghalaya bordering Cachar district of Assam. It is very close to the River Malidor and attached to National Highway -6 (SHILLONG to SILCHAR or CACHAR) and it’s a very sensitive area. The people have been living in these villages for ages and generation after generations. The people are residents of the state and have been supporting the past and the present Government of Meghalaya in past many years they are doing well as the citizen which is a moral Boosting for all of us.

The villages in Malidor are very closed to the River Malidor. Across the River there is a another village called New Malidor which is 200 metres away from the flowing River and on the west side we have Ratacherra at the down flow of the River we have Baikam and all the peoples are amazing and peace loving people. The peoples of the four villages are fully dependent on the River.

There are some Morons/ Mafia the People who proclaimed themselves to be the Boss Dug out the River with the JCB Which effect areas and the potable drinking water level to goes down for the adjacent villages. Very soon even the NH- 6 May also collapse. The villages are suffering as the water level in the river already went down and will go down further and due to the encroachment and soil erosion the villages may suffer during monsoon season. Some responsible villagers did went to the spot, the place where it’s being dug by many JCB it’s heart wrenching to see as the boulders vanished day after day. Residents requested them to stop the activities and ask the labours to sent their owner to meet the Headman but it’s seems the request is meaningless.

The villagers said; You can do all whatever you wish to do in your own land but it should not effect others, there should be accountability and responsibility for destruction to the natural resources and it should not effect others in the vicinities & surrounding areas. Likewise the boulders belong to the state of both side Meghalaya and Assam there should be an agreement between the two states before digging and removing anything from the river. The villages are scared now as the mafia keep encroaching toward Meghalaya and one of the village near by the bank of the river.

Humble request to the district Administration of East Jaintia Hills, concerned authorities & JHADC to speak to the party who dug the River deeply. Please have a look into the matter at the earliest possible as it is very alarming to see the destructions. think for the future generations an of adjacent villages, your village may not collapsed, you may become rich but some one village will collapsed. They have the rights to live too.
