In this digital age, teachers are resorting to innovative tech-based teaching resources to make lessons interesting for children and help them understand topics better. Recognizing the role of good digital content in enhancing teaching and improving learning outcomes and inspired by the efforts of teachers in this aspect, MHRD and NCTE launched DIKSHA- Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge SHAring with the motto “Our Teachers, Our Heroes” to coordinate this effort at a national level.
Being at the forefront of digital initiatives in the education sector, Meghalaya also recognizes the role of good digital content in enhancing teaching and improving learning outcomes. The state has therefore initiated to develop Energized Textbooks with QR codes for Classes Ix and X to make the content available for these grades through the DIKSHA learning platform.
The state believes that the interactive audio-visual content, assessments and animations will make learning engaging for children thereby helping them understand concepts better. It is also expected to reduce the pressure on teachers by providing them with a range of curated content linked to the curriculum that they can use while preparing for classes.
Students, parents and teachers can follow the instructions that will be provided in the textbook to download the mobile application to scan the QR codes in textbooks and access the state-of-the art content available from their Android smart phones.
The Directorate of Educational Research and Training, the Nodal Agency under the Department of education for implementing DIKSHA will be conducting training sessions on how to use the online content effectively to ensure that all its teachers are aware of how to make the best use of the energized textbooks and the available online content. It is also embarking on a journey to create and curate quality content by trained state government teachers that can be leveraged by all states through the DIKSHA platform.
DIKSHA – Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge SHAring, a national digital infrastructure for teachers allows states to leverage a common technological backbone and integrate their respective teacher initiatives based on their goals, needs and capabilities. DIKSHA will take advantage of the efforts put in by a few teachers in the state and take it to all teachers in all states. Meghalaya DIKSHA will soon host additional features, with the primary focus on teacher’s development as teachers are considered the most important lever of change in education
