Nongpoh: It could have been a boon for educational accessibility and good quality but the promise of Residential education hangs in the air. Uncompleted Residential school buildings now turned safe corners for many antisocial elements.


20 Such school buildings are uncompleted in the state. Three of which are found in Ribhoi District (Mawtari Myrdon, Jirang and Nongrim Synjai.
When inquired, it is found that the sanctioned amount of 55 crores could be encashed only upto a little less than fifty percent. Half a decade passed, the buildings remain the same.

The current government is submitting a new estimate costing 69 crores. When will it be realized, only time will tell.
This is a great loss to the people in the state. Parents are concerned about how long will children be deprived to study in such schools, the need of time.
