Shillong: People from Mawlong and Ichamati (both belonging to the Shella constituency) support the mining of limestone by the new company.
The reason being the growth in job opportunities and other developments that this company can bring to their region. Their voices was made heard through “Pynsngew ia ka Mon Jong u paidbah” before the beginning of mining of limestone in their region.
The company named as ‘ M/s K Sing Wann & Sons’ owned by Mr. K Sing Wann will very soon begin the mining of limestone in a mining field of about 4.56 hectares located at Ichamati,East Khasi Hills District. With this, about 21 people can be directly recruited (Direct Employment) and about 80 people can be involved in the indirect employment. Regarding the preservation of the environment,the company had kept aside a sum of 23.30 lakhs per annum.
To start this project and to know the opinion of general public, a stage was set at Ichamati on the 16 August 2019 by the Meghalaya Pollution Control Board,Shillong.
Through this programme, chaired by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District Mr. M.Tongper,MCS, many people came forward and gave their support for this company also giving their best wishes for the growth and development in their region.
