Shillong: Tyrna Elaka Welfare Society (TEWS) Shillong in its sitting yesterday resolved to urge all the six candidates in the Shella by poll to take as their priority the road development if voted to power.
The wear and tear of Road condition in Shella constituency is running from bad to worse. Therefore concerned over this, the people through this welfare organisation long to see that whoever comes to power, he or she must first and foremost bring road development.
In the letter issued by bah R Sawian President and bah P Syiemlieh Secretary of the Society they expressed their grievances over the dilapidated conditions of the roads within the 26-Shella Constituency.
In modern times, road connection is the backbone of the economy. This is true, particularly in the case of this constituency which housed the best of Khasi indigenous wisdom of root bridges and the nature’s gift of waterfall and the range greenery. This becomes the major tourist destination every day.
Road therefore, is a pertinent issue facing the people in their daily life as well as in bringing development and promotion of people’s livelihood.
This itself is enough a ground for any MLA to be, to put their hands on when voted to power.
