Shillong: The Seng Samla Mawlai Nongkwar strongly reprimanded the Rangbah shnong, Mr. Rapbor Roy Thangkhiew for permitting Mayasheel Retail Ltd., Bazar India to open its mall at Mawlai Nongkwar without informing the Dorbar Shnong and without the common agreement of the Executive Committee of Nongkwar.
While meeting with the reporters yesterday, the president of the Seng Samla, Mr. Esakiel S. Mond said that it was on the 5th of this month that the Seng Samla met with Mr. Paul Lyngdoh(EM Trade) and saw a copy of the agreement given by the Rangbah shnong showing that this agreement was duly signed by the Secretary Mr. S.M. Mawiong.Further, in this agreement it was written that the permission was given by the Dorbar shnong itself along with the Executive body of Mawlai Nongkwar.
Further the president says that after the above said company opened its mall on the 1st of this month, the SSMN held an urgent meeting of the EC on the following day. After the meeting, the Rangbah shnong was asked for a clear explanation in writing as to who had given the permission and what type of clauses have been included in the agreement which was signed in the presence of all the workers of this mall.
On the 5th of this month, the SSMN summoned the EC and the leading members. The Rangbah shnong said that the Dorbar was held at Block 1 of Nongkwar and then the agreement was given with the consent of the EC.”The EC simply ended in an unsatisfactory way since the Seng Samla could not get any clear cut explanation” said the president.
On top of that, the Rangbah shnong informed that only 10 non- khasis were working at the mall. But actually 20 such workers were there and there’s no information about their residential addresses.
Based on these grounds, the SSMN sent a written complain to the acting syiem of Hima Mylliem to express their distrust on the Rangbah shnong for what he did. The same complain was sent to the Deputy CEM of KHADC responsible for governing the Elaka. On the 9 the of this month, the Hima Mylliem summoned both parties i.e. the Rangbah shnong and the Seng samla.
It was on the 13th of August that the Hima Mylliem released an order to remove Mr.Rapbor Roy Thangkhiew from his office and designated Mr. Maurice Lyngdoh Myrdon as the acting Rangbah shnong.
The Seng Samla also refute the allegations that in this issue, political intetests are involved.”All members of the Seng Samla do not have any political intetests. The ones involved are those who say so themselves because one of them did try to get a ticket of the recently conducted election.” said one of the members of the Seng Samla.
The Seng samla also said that the Rangbah shnong did not receive any certificate of holding office from U Syiem even though he was elected right from the 28th of August 2018.But still he held office and functioned on his own.
