Shillong: Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma briefed news persons over the issue of Inner Line Permit (ILP) yesterday and said that the primary duty and aim for the government is to protect the bonafide citizens of the state.

Sangma said, “ILP is only one of those safeguards and there are many others too to protect the people of the state. All pending issues will be settled after the by-election and Diwali.”

He further added that the previous government had promulgated the Meghalaya Residence Safety and Security Act, which is a competent Act and the all party meeting will be convened to further deliberate on this.
