Thomas Jones remembered, Soso Tham honoured: MLCU 1

Shillong: Martin Luther Christian University yesterday conducted a Lecture on Thomas Jones I where the first Missionary from Wales to Khasi land Prof. Andrew May was the resource person. Prof May the great great grandson of Thomas Jones 1 recalled the indomitable spirit of this missionary who is a pioneer not only in mission work but in various social works including literature and livelihood of the Khasi people.


A book Tales of Darkness and Light by Janet Hujon was also released. this is a translation of the Khasi classic Ki Sngi Barim U Hynniewtrep of Soso Tham. Kong Sarahline Giri Tham great great grandniece of poet Soso Tham released the book.
Kong Sarahline Tham expressed deepest appreciation to MLCU and Janet Hujon for this contribution to give English speaking readers access to this trove of Khasi classical.
