To add tooth and nail to its protest; EMRI employees returns all 108 Ambulance 1

Shillong: It has been two months since EMRI workers remain in a protest mode against the alleged oppressive behaviour of the GVK EMRI Management. Under the banner of Meghalaya EMRI Worker Union (MEMRIWU) the workers has served the 2 months period ultimatum to the state government ending today the 30th September 2019 to own EMRI under its department and to have no more ties with the current management.

But today, since the government has remain silent over their demand, the Union took one drastic descision when they have returned all the 108 Ambulances to the Lawmali office and stop working to force the government into action. The EMRI Workers Union, starts their indefinite strike from 12 AM midnight of the 30th April 2019.

These Ambulances are from different parts of the state. The MEMRIWU through its leader bah Roypar Kharraswai conveyed this decision saying, “the MEMRIWU resolved to further strengthen its protest to the government against the GVK Management for its oppressive behaviour and demand that the contract be cancelled, instead EMRI service should be under one of the government’s department as the Emergency Cell in the state.”

He further said, “Cancelling the contract with the company would not mean that workers will lose their jobs rather they should be made as government servants. Meanwhile, the company must clear all the dues to the workers including the Increment and arrear since 2017, also the overtime fees of the workers till October.”
