Untested beef sold for 6 months: HUAM 1

Shillong: Hynniewtrep United Awakening Movement Central Movement today called

on the Syiem Mylliem to seek a report on Cattle Market at Khanapara.

HUAM President, bah Gillbert Kharraswai informed that for six months consumers

were sold beef which is not tested. Unlike before, the Khanapara Cattles today has

no marks whatsoever to identify they are safe for consumption.

HUAM North Khasi Hills District (Ribhoi District) also seek report on how this market

is managed now and whether there are terms and conditions laid down by the Hima

for Cattle sellers renting the area. It also alleged that proper rules and guidelines

which were in place earlier is now no longer followed now. The most shocking thing

found is that 95% of the labourers in this market are outsiders.

Thus, the organisation vowed to be vigilant and no cattle shall be entertained without

having identification marks. Further, it will see also that the market day will be only

once a week plus three concurrent days to transport them.
